Japanese and Vintage Beads Caterpillar Collar Necklace
Part of the collection called Symmetries, this one-of-a-kind collar necklace is built on a vertical symmetry and is inspired by nature, in particular those colorful caterpillars that move sinuously along a stem, displaying an incredible flexibility. The collar comes with a multilayered structure, and when worn, it sculpturally frames the face.
The technique used for weaving this contemporary necklace is called CRAW, cubic right angle weave, and is extremely time-consuming. The beaded mesh obtained with this technique is sturdy yet flexible, making it comfortably light and easy-to-wear.
Materials used include the finest Japanese glass beads size 11 and four re-purposed 16mm lucite spheres. Although the fishing thread used in this kind of beaded work is extremely resistant, this kind of artwork requires special care.
This is a one-of-a-kind piece and can not be reproduced.
